Nompilo Sindane

Nompilo has vast experience in the coal mining industry, having started her career as a Geologist at BHP Billiton in 2012. Through her tenacity and passion for mining she went on to hold various roles in mine planning, production execution, and coal processing and marketing. From being a geologist, she moved on to become a Mine Planning Specialist and Mine Planning Superintendent at Sout32. Later, she held the roles of Mine Planning Manager (Coal Processing and logistics) at Seriti.
She is passionate about safe and efficient mining operations, and pit optimisation.
Noluthando Zulu

Noluthando’s career in mining started at Harmony Gold and Royal Bafokeng Platinum as an underground production geologist. She went on to work in investment banking as a mining and metals sell side analyst earning her a Financial Mail top analysts in mining award in 2017. She later moved into asset management assisting in the running of the largest listed mining fund at the Public Investment Corporation. She then served in the office of the CEO at Anglo American South Africa as the Executive Associate to the Group Director.
Noluthando serves as a member of the BBC Youth Portfolio Committee and has held the role of Head of Mining and Energy since 2021. She is passionate about the participation of women in STEM.
Our Managing Director, Ms Noluthando was invited by the National Youth Development Agency to the 9th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Youth Summit held in Durban South Africa between 18 and 20 July 2023. The theme for the Summit was “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
The objectives of the summit were to bring together youth participants, affording them an opportunity to share ideas and work on a concrete action plan for co-operation in economic, humanitarian, mass media and science sphere.
Ms. Zulu sat on a panel discussion titled; “Developing a partnership towards an equitable Just Transition,” alongside; Mr. Yershen Pillay (Chief Executive Officer: CHIETA), Mr. Rudi Dicks (Deputy Director General: Private Office of President) and Ms. Gcobisa Magazi (Director: Office of the Deputy Director General: Public Finance and Lead Coordinator on Climate Change, National Treasury).
The discussion centered around the need for energy security and the importance of a Just Transition that benefits all. Ms. Zulu was quoted stating that, “all human beings must have access to affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity.”
On 4 January 2022, Our Managing Director, Ms. Noluthando Zulu was invited to participate in the inaugural South African Youth Economic Council Energy Summit. The purpose of the Summit was to unpack the key themes and outcomes of COP26 namely the signing pf the Glasgow Climate Pact and agreeing the Paris Rulebook. The Summit also aimed to center the discussion of the Just Energy Transition in South Africa around the Youth and Job Creation.
The Summit was addressed by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy followed by a panel discussion, where Ms. Zulu was a participant. On stage Ms. Zulu was joined by, The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy; Mr. Gwede Mantashe, the CEO of Seriti Resources; Mr. Mike Teke and the CEO of Menar Mr. Vustlat Bayoglu.
The discussion focused on the importance of the Just Energy Transition in South Africa while balancing the need to grow the economy using coal and the use of new energy sources. Ms. Zulu highlighted the importance of the need of South Africa to gradually move away from coal taking into consideration the potential impacts on coal mining communities and employees. Ms. Zulu also highlighted the opportunities of the Just Energy Transition, namely, the mining of green metals contained in South Africa and the jobs this could create and the opportunities to invest in new technology and new skills for the youth.
